I am excited to announce that we have teamed up with The Grooveman (so named because he is the grooviest of men!) in order to bring some of that BBC Monitor sound down South in the form of Stirling Broadcast speakers. After a good listen to their tiny LS3/5a V2 I was captivated by the exceptional midrange tone and emotion these diminutive boxes can convey, and they are surprisingly good at filling a good sized room with music.
Using carefully designed drive units (made by the famed SEAS) of Norway) the Stirling LS3/5a V2 is a fully licenced design, with an 11 ohm impedance but retaining the rich seductiveness of the original 15 ohm versions. The-ear.net said "Only a few speakers are this good at holding my attention with this music" while the Absolute Sound wrote "First and foremost is a midrange of quite extraordinary richness and presence, with an almost palpable thereness, particularly on voices and acoustic instruments. Second is its sheer openness. At the time of its introduction in 1975, only speakers without enclosures (Quads, KLH Nines, Magneplanars) exhibited greater freedom from boxiness. Third is superb imaging and soundstaging. And fourth, rarely remarked upon but noticeable: a subjectively “bigger” presentation than that of most mini-monitors or, to put it another way, less of the miniaturization effect. Soloists, instrumentalists, jazz trios, string quartets, and so forth are projected with a realism that is still rather startling."
The end result is a speaker that is faithful to the original LS3/5 prototype, can play beautifully with as little as 20 watts, suits well designed tube amplifiers and is easy to use in small or large spaces. While no speaker is without its' compromises and the LS3/5a V2 is no exception, once listening it is VERY easy to forget it's shortcomings and simply get lost in the music. At GrizzlyWorks, we don't do "cheap" as we believe things that are actually worth buying rarely fall into that category, and the Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a V2 do not fall into the "cheap speaker" category. Buy once, buy right is our preferred motto and one listen to these little beauties will show you all you need to know! Available in Cherry, Walnut, English Oak and Black Ash real timber veneer, as well as Wild Oak, Zebrano, Ebony and Rosewood veneers at a modest premium. We can also supply our own specially designed stands to perfectly suit!
We also have access to the full Stirling Broadcast range including LS3/5a V3, SB-88, LS3/6 and AB-2 bass extender units.
