Lyrebird is GO!!

Many of you who follow the social media pages will know I've been working on a tube amplifier offering for quite some time- all of that patience, perseverance and effort is finally coming to a head with the pending launch of Lyrebird Audio on the 20th of April!

We'll be doing a public showing and demonstration in Colonel Light Gardens SA with the support of another boutique SA brand- Hulgich Audio. The first model Lyrebird is the EL84/4 with 20w per channel and a number of rarely seen features. The first being dual mono volume controls (using ALPS Blue Velvet components) to eliminate crosstalk in this area and give balance compensation which is great for those of us with asymmetrical listening spaces or different L/R hearing acuity- you can still present a tight, centred soundstage. Another is the use of defeatable tone controls, which can be used to "season" the sound to your taste, to balance bright sounding or bass heavy rooms/speakers. Of course these can also be removed from the circuit entirely at the flip of a switch.

Our chassis, power transformers and output transformers are all made to our spec locally, with circuit design and installation being taken care of by a VERY experienced Soviet trained electronics tech who now calls Adelaide home.

We will also be offering a limited amount of what we call the SS version (Soviet Special) running NOS Russian capacitors and high grade matched NOS 6P14P-ER (or-K) power tubes for an even silkier midrange! To say we are chuffed with the outcome is an enormous understatement, and those who have heard the amp thus far have been very impressed with what we are offering- the drive that it has is quite remarkable considering the power figures.

More to come under the Lyrebird name, so watch this space!!
